Application and selection
What is FLRYY?
Round sheathed cable for trailer and body lighting (2-core for lamps, 5- and 7-core for rear light clusters), sensor and switch wiring, and any run where several thin-wall cores must be routed together with mechanical protection. Core colours follow DIN 72551 so they map directly onto ISO 1185/3731 connectors.
How to choose the cross-section
Select the conductor cross-section on the current of the circuit and the cable length: 0.35–1.0 mm² for signals and sensors, 1.5–2.5 mm² for lighting and most control circuits, 4.0–6.0 mm² for high-load consumers, and 10 mm² and above for supply, battery and earth leads. When in doubt, go one size up — voltage drop on 24 V trailers is a common cause of lighting faults.
