What is ISO 11446?
Fixed wiring for 12 V trailers, caravans, horse boxes and light commercial trailers with the 13-pin ISO 11446 system: lighting on the 1.5 mm² cores, permanent supply, charging line and earth on the 2.5 mm² cores. Pairs with 13-pin plugs and sockets.
How to choose the cross-section
Select the conductor cross-section on the current of the circuit and the cable length: 0.35–1.0 mm² for signals and sensors, 1.5–2.5 mm² for lighting and most control circuits, 4.0–6.0 mm² for high-load consumers, and 10 mm² and above for supply, battery and earth leads. When in doubt, go one size up — voltage drop on 24 V trailers is a common cause of lighting faults.
